Wondering what life is really like as a travel healthcare provider?
Recently, we got to connect with a few of our talented travelers about their journeys with CoreMedical Group. From a first assignment to more experienced travelers, we loved getting to catch up with our staff in the field. Get to know some of our travelers and their favorite parts about traveling, working with Core, and some of the amazing adventures they’ve been on.
What is your name, your practice, and how long have you been with Core?
Chris: Chris and I work in physical therapy, mainly outpatient, and have been with Core for about a year and a half now.
Lexie: Lexie, I am an Occupational Therapy assistant, and this is my first contract ever.
Sierra: My name is Sierra, I’m a nurse, and I’ve been with Core for just over a year.
What is an unforgettable travel memory you’ve had?
Chris: Just traveling in general because you never know what you're going to find and just all these hidden gems across the US. Like right now we're in Wisconsin. And you know, I never really thought of Wisconsin ever in my life. But now here we are, loving it!
Lexie: I kind of knew this was what I wanted to do since I was probably 10. I knew I wanted to travel. So, getting out there and actually doing it, seeing all these different views, exploring a new state, all of it! I've never been to Washington in my life, so coming here was brand new for me.
Sierra: Recently, I actually got hurt. I had to take time to recover, which was nerve-wracking, but everyone at Core was just amazing helping me through. I’m hopefully returning to work next week. Fingers crossed!
What has been a meaningful career moment or adventure for you?
Chris: Montana, on my first assignment at an outpatient facility, I saw the lengths that patients had to go to for healthcare services. They basically had to go to Billings, which for us was literally 6 1/2 hours away. They would go there for their surgery and then they go there for their follow-ups, and it was literally a full day of driving just for an hour long appointment.
Lexie: So, crazy story. When I was in OT school, they had a Zoom meeting that we could that was optional and it reviewed travel therapy as a career. And I was like, “well, I kind of want to know more.” And [the agency that led the call] was CoreMedical Group. They were explaining what they do, and they talked about all their benefits and everything. I was like, “oh, that's a good company to keep in mind.” Then when I graduated, I went with you guys!
Sierra: The contract I’m on now with Core is wonderful. I wanted to renew kind of early on because I enjoyed it so much, and the facility and Core jumped on it! That felt really great that they were excited too to have me continue working there on their staff.
