Tell us about yourself:
I’ve been a Permanent Placement Recruiter since September 2022, and my passion for helping others drives my work every day. My strengths in empathy, transparency, and tenacity have been crucial in connecting healthcare professionals with roles that truly align with their strengths and goals. Outside of work, I enjoy basketball, film, music, and exploring the world of gastronomy.
What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare recruitment, and how has it influenced your professional journey?
I was originally intrigued with the idea of bringing my skillset to the healthcare field. I have many family members who work in healthcare, have quite a few nurses who are friends, and I’ve always admired their dedication and selflessness. While the opportunity to build a career in healthcare recruiting has been exciting, CoreMedical Group has opened my eyes to the connection between my efforts and substantive improvements in patient care. I know my placements are going to make a difference in people’s lives- even potentially saving lives, and I’m happy to be a part of that continuing effort.
What is the most memorable or rewarding experience you've had while recruiting healthcare professionals?
Every candidate I’ve placed has a compelling story that I could recite by heart. It’s difficult to pinpoint one experience as the most memorable or rewarding because each has left a lasting impression on me. By facilitating placements, I've helped nurses escape unsafe working conditions, attain higher levels of management responsibility, find better work cultures, and start their careers in nurturing and supportive environments. Each candidate has a unique journey, and I strive to ensure that their story has the happiest ending possible.
What qualities do you look for in a candidate that make them stand out in the healthcare industry?
In my experience, the best candidates are those who ask a lot of questions during our conversations and in interviews. They are thoughtful and deliberate about their job options. While compensation is always important, a genuine concern for factors like staffing ratios, the culture of a prospective employer, and opportunities for professional growth and development are strong indicators of a candidate’s seriousness and commitment.
What strategies do you use to ensure a successful match between healthcare professionals and their respective roles?
A successful match requires a deep understanding of their needs and the candidate’s experience and potential. It’s very much like a marriage; for it to work well, honesty and transparency must be at the heart of every action. Sometimes, despite the best efforts and intentions, a match may not be possible. In those cases, it’s important to trust the process and redirect our collective energy toward finding a better fit for both the candidate and the client.
How do you stay updated on the latest trends and developments in the healthcare industry to better serve your candidates?
While I try to stay informed about the healthcare industry through traditional media, I’ve found that the most reliable source of information comes from those who work on the front lines - my candidates and clients. Since aspects of healthcare can vary significantly from state to state, or even from city to city, it’s incredibly valuable as a recruiter to simply listen. I’ve learned so much from my clients and, even more so, from candidates who often have insights into what’s happening across the country as well as in their own communities. This institutional knowledge is a valuable currency, helping me positively impact the lives of my candidates, improve the level of care for my clients, and enhance patient outcomes.
