From Burnout to Breakthrough: How Travel Therapy and Nursing Restore Your Spark

by CoreMedical Group

Nursing and therapy are deeply rewarding professions, but they’re also demanding ones. Exhaustion and workplace challenges can slowly dim your spark. If you’ve found yourself feeling stretched thin or questioning your path, you’re not alone. In this blog, we’ll share the top burnout predictor linked to turnover, how to rediscover your passion, and benefits you may not know exist.

The Growing Burnout Crisis in Healthcare

Here’s a wakeup call for leaders: 65% of nurses report high levels of stress and burnout, according to The State of Nursing in 2025 report by Cross Country Healthcare and Florida Atlantic University. It cites the following as top stressors: staffing shortages, inadequate pay, lack of leadership support, and patient abuse. The study also found only 60% of nurses surveyed said they would choose nursing again if given the choice.

There are eight RN burnout predictors, according to the American Organization for Nursing Leadership:

  • Consistently arriving early
  • Consistently leaving late
  • Consistently skipping breaks
  • Not taking PTO (in past 6 months)
  • Consistently calling out
  • Consistently precepting
  • Consistently serving as charge
  • Consistently floating

Among these predictors, consistently leaving late has the greatest association with higher RN turnover, according to AONL. The report also notes demands on RNs are increasing and may be unsustainably high.

If you are a nurse or therapist feeling burnout, know that you’re not alone. It may be the sign you need to step out of the cycle and regain control of your career and well-being.
