10 Signs You are a Travel Therapist

by CoreMedical Group

10 signs you are a travel therapist core medical group

Everyone has been telling you that you are the epitome of a travel therapist, but what do they mean? Here’s the proof - 10 signs you are, without question, a travel physical therapist, occupational therapist, or speech therapist. And hey, even if you don’t fit every one of these, it’s still likely you’d be great at it.

1. Adventure IS Out There

Adventure is the name of the game and you can’t be tamed. You’re a thrill junkie, a foodie, and an outdoorsy person. You live the nightlife and go on sunrise hikes. You’re living your best life, and everyone is jealous.

2. Your Travel Gear

Your travel gear says it all. You’ve stocked up on hiking boots, a surfboard, assorted climbing ropes and carabiners, snorkels, a telescope and an all-weather tent. Oh, and probably a dog.

3. You’re a Bit Techie, a Bit Hippie

You have the latest iPhone or Android, a DSLR camera with multiple lenses and definitely a FitBit or smart watch. But, you also only buy green cleaning products, own multiple reusable straws (the turtles, man), you practice “earthing” daily, and are an avid festival goer.

4. You Thrive on Competition

On your PT, OT, and SLP jobs you are caring for the most patients and doing it the best. Also, your lunches are on point and your weekend activities are cooler than anyone else’s. Always.

5. You Know How to Snap and ‘Gram

If a traveling physical therapist goes on adventures without Snapchat or Instagram, are they even a travel PT? Absolutely not. You can only take travel therapy jobs if you know how to Snap like a Gen Z and ‘Gram like a social celebrity.

6. MONEY and Other Benefits

But don’t forget the benjamins and the benefits. Aside from being an avid traveler, you also know how to make the most green and collect the best health, dental, and vision insurance, without a permanent position. 13 weeks here, 13 weeks there on PT jobs and all while safe and secure in health and wealth.

7. You’re a Minimalist

While you’re accumulating incredible memories from your travel allied career, you also understand the importance of cutting back. You’re a traveling occupational therapist who is a huge fan of the “stuff purge” before each new travel assignment, and you can easily fit your whole life (and probably that dog from #2) in your mid-size SUV.

8. You Can’t Be Confined by a Normal Schedule

It’s kind of ridiculous that you’re a morning person and a night owl, but you’re the ideal candidate for travel therapy companies. You’re a shift-switcher because your drive to be and do cannot be confined to one schedule. Go get ‘em, tiger.

9. People

Ever the extrovert, even when you want to take a breather it’s surrounded by 3 of your new pals on the top of a mountain or the middle of the ocean somewhere. You thrive when helping others and when others are mentoring you, making your travel therapy transitions from one facility to the next super easy.

10. You’re a PT, OT, or SLP

Oh, and you’re a therapist of some sort. Obviously.
