Freebies and Discounts for Frontline Nurses and Healthcare Professionals

With so many nurses and healthcare workers jumping into action to minimize the effects of Covid-19, communities have been looking for ways to give back. Companies are showing their appreciation by launching discount campaigns and freebies for frontline staff. Here's a list we've compiled of a few ways our communities are saying thank you to those caring for our families and friends during this pandemic.

Food Freebies & Delivery Discounts

Everybody has to eat, and for a lot of healthcare workers, that means meals on the go. Here are a few ways companies like Starbucks and DoorDash are making grabbing coffee and meals easier for nurses.

  • Starbucks is offering frontline workers and first responders a free tall hot or iced coffee until May 31st.
  • ◾ DoorDash offered nurses, doctors, and hospital employees 60 days of free Corporate DashPass. DashPass includes $0 delivery and reduced service fees from participating restaurants, plus a safe delivery route and food drop off to the participating hospitals.
  • ◾ Krispy Kreme is giving nurses with valid IDs a dozen free Krispy Kreme donuts every Monday through May 12th.
  • Cumberland Farms is giving away free any-size hot or iced coffees to nurses, doctors, paramedics, hospital and medical staff, medical researchers, police officers, firefighters, and active military.
  • Yeti is offering special pricing and discounts to nurses, first responders, military, and government employees.

Hotels and Lodging Offers

Our travel nurses and therapy professionals know the importance of having a secure space and a comfortable bed to come home to after a long shift. To help healthcare professionals traveling to where they're needed most, Airbnb and the following hotels have offered discounts.

  • Airbnb will waive all their fees up to the first 100K frontline responders invited to book. Valid until May 31st.
  • Hilton Hotels, in collaboration with American Express, is donating up to 1 million free hotel room nights across the U.S. to nurses, doctors, EMTs, paramedics, and other frontline healthcare staff who may need a place to sleep or isolate from their families. This offer will be good until the end of May.
  • Marriott is also teaming up with American Express and JPMorgan Chase, offering free hotel stays in some of the most impacted areas, as well as discounted rates at  nearly 2.500 hotels.
  • ◾ Choice Hotels is offering a "Choice Cares" special rate for nurses, doctors, paramedics, firefighters, food/agriculture workers, transit employees, and others outlined by CISA guidelines. You can book up to 9 nights with the special rate.
  • Red Roof Inn is donating a limited number of available rooms to first responders, including nurses, doctors, firefighters, police, and emergency medical providers through May 31st. Call a participating hotel directly to book. Red Roof Inn also always offers a 20% discount to first responders.

Cell Phones & Connectivity Discounts

It is the way we all stay connected in this digital age - through our smartphones, tablets, and computers. Companies like AT&T and Verizon are serving their healthcare communities by providing free connectivity plans, extra data, and repairs.

  • Verizon began providing discounts to nurses starting April 23rd. In addition to offering users free additional data, nurses can enjoy up to $40 off when combining Verizon unlimited wireless and Fios internet plans.
  • Sprint is offering free expedited shipping, waived activation fees on Sprint.com, and Sprint Perks to healthcare workers on the front lines.
  • AT&T has announced that it will be offering nurses and physicians three free months on their FirstNet Mobile - Responder plan.
  • ◾ Samsung is offering free repairs on Samsung phones, including cracked screens and battery replacements, to frontline healthcare workers with valid ID. This offer including nurses, doctors, hospital workers, EMTs, police officers, and firefighters, and is good through June 30th while supplies last

Footwear and Apparel Offers

With increased healthcare staff-to-patient ratios, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals are spending hours on their feet. Footwear companies have recognized the need for comfortable, supportive shoes, and have come together to aid frontline workers.

  • ◾ Crocs are donating a free pair of shoes (with free shipping) to healthcare workers on the frontlines of COVID-19.
  • ◾ Verified nurses, first responders, teachers, military personnel, and government employees can receive a 50% discount at Reebok. Verify with ID.me to get started.
  • Nike has increased its U.S. first responder and medical professional discount to 20% off. Verify your status on their web page to receive your discount code.
  • ◾ Rothy's is offering a one-time 50% off code to first responders and medical personnel, including nurses, doctors, and hospital staff. Code is valid on select styles, is limited to one item per order, and expires May 31st.
  • Under Armour offers a 40% discount to first responders and healthcare workers to include nurses, doctors, medical staff, police, firefighters, and EMT.
  • ◾ Nurses, medical professionals, first responders, and military personnel can receive a 40% discount at Adidas
  • ◾ Clarks is offering a limited-time 50% discount off one pair of shoes for nurses and medical professionals.
  • Asics is offering 60% off all full-priced products (including shoes and scrubs) to medical professionals and first responders.

Miscellaneous Freebies and Discounts

To remove stressors like car trouble and missing out on valuable groceries, AAA and multiple bulk/wholesale clubs are instituting extra offers like free roadside assistance and dedicated shopping times that nurses, therapists, and other first responders can use.

  • AAA is offering free Roadside Assistance services to medical personnel and first responders. These individuals can receive help with vehicle breakdowns, battery problems, or flat tires by calling 1-800-400-4222.
  • BJ's Wholesale Club is introducing a dedicated shopping hour for healthcare workers and first responders. Individuals can shop every Sunday from 8 am-9 am - no membership required. BJ's is also offering free 4-month membership to healthcare workers and first responders. All you have to do is show your ID.
  • ◾ Mindfulness and meditation app Headspace is offering its meditation app to anyone working in a public health setting.
  • ◾ Like BJ's, Sam's Club has implemented "Hero Hours" for healthcare workers and first responders, which will take place every Sunday from 8 am-10 am. Membership is not required for Hero Hours, and Sam's Club will provide masks to wear in-store.

We cannot thank our nurses, therapists, and healthcare staff enough for their courage and compassion. We only hope that some of these freebies and discounts lessen the load and provide some comfort for you. If you've seen an offer or discount we've missed, let us know, and we'll add it to the list for others to use.
