Nursing Interview Tips: Do These Three Things to Win the Job

by CoreMedical Group

The team at CoreMedical Group wants you to succeed in your nursing career. Our experienced recruiting team will help you with completing your application, obtaining licensing and housing, and finding you opportunities that fit your personality and skill set.

However, the way you present yourself in a job interview is up to you. Here are three interview dos that our team came up with for nurses, whether or not they are looking for a travel or permanent position.

Do:
1. Smile. This is important even for phone interviews (yes, you can hear a smile)!

You're a nurse. Nursing is a person-oriented business. It matters to patients and family members to have friendly nurses. It also matters to your future employer. A genuine smile and kind personality make a world of difference in healthcare. Happy healthcare workers make for happy patients and successful organizations!

2. Research. If you're a CoreMedical nurse, the interviewer already knows a lot about you before the interview based on what your recruiter sent to them.

We suggest adjusting your perspective about who the interview is for. The company isn't just interviewing you. You are interviewing the company.

Ask questions! Good questions include: What is the level of acuity for patients? What is the nurse to patient ratio? What is the case load? The interviewer is assessing how well you will fit with the healthcare facility. Make sure the company will also be the right fit for you.

3. Take the interview seriously. If it's a face-to-face interview, dress your best and make sure you have enough time to get to the interview. If you appear to be too casual or act like you don't care about the company, you won't impress the interviewer.

Nurses interviewing over the phone should be prepared to take the call in an appropriate location. Remove yourself from all noises and distractions and maintain complete focus on the phone call.
