OT Licensure - Approximate Timeframes

Below are the average licensing processing timeframes per state. Please note that timeframes for verifications, transcripts, and background checks can affect the processing times and each persons situation may vary slightly.    Please also take note of the following important information:
Verifications:  Most states require verification of all previously held licenses (current and expired). There is normally a form within the application packet to use to request the verification. The form should be copied and one used for each state you have ever been licensed. You will need to check w/ each state board to find out the mailing address and cost for the verification.
Score Transfer:  All states require transfer of your NBCOT scores. A link to the request form may be found HERE. The easiest way is to complete the form, return it via fax and include your credit/debit card information on the form for the fee. The processing time is 10-14 days once your request is received. A mailed request with a check can add 5+ business days to the process.
Transcripts:  Some states require original transcripts delivered directly from your school. Please read through the application carefully to see if this applies. If required, the application packet may contain a form to use to send to the school to make the request. Always check w/ the school to see if there is a charge to request transcripts and to confirm what address transcript requests go to. (Note: Boards normally do not accept COPIES of transcripts you may already have).
CEUs:  Some states require the completion of CEUs for licensure. Please read through the application carefully to see if this applies.
